Rasa Smite, Lecturer at ACT and Artist, Curator and Founder of RIXC Riga, will be presenting her work and participating in a panel at the City University of New York Graduate Center on November 29, 2018.

The original vision of artificial intelligence was about automation of cognition, conjuring images of robots and superhuman computers. But today AI plays a crucial role in culture—for instance, in recommending music, videos, and potential “friends” on social media—influencing our behavior and imagination. The integration of AI into the everyday lives of billions raises important questions about the future of culture, aesthetics, and taste. An expert panel discusses the impact of AI on culture.

Featuring: Lev Manovich, professor of computer science at The Graduate Center (moderator); Anca Ţenea, Fulbright Visiting Researcher at The Graduate Center and former online editor of GQ Romania; and Rasa Smite, visiting professor at MIT and professor in new media art at Liepaja University (Latvia).

This event will be LIVE-STREAMED on November 29, 2018 at 6:30 pm.
