ACT Lecturer Lara Baladi was awarded a grant from AFAC (Arab Fund for Arts and Culture) to design the interface of Vox Populi. This archival project is what initially brought Baladi to MIT as a Fellow in the Open Documentary Lab of CMS/W.

Vox Populi is a web-based database of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution and its aftermath in the form of a searchable timeline and an artistic web VR narrative of the 2011 Egyptian revolution and its aftermath. It is positioned at the intersection of digital archives, innovative forms of story telling and contemporary art. Through the artist’s ‘transmedia’ collage, users navigate and contribute to an open source archive related to Tahrir Square in resonance with other global, past and present, social movements.
