Maaretta Jaukkuri is a curator, writer, and educator based in Helsinki, Finland. She founded the Art & Common Space program at the Norwegian University for Science and Technology (NTNU) and is also a professor at Aalto University in Finland. Formerly Chief Curator at the Finnish contemporary art museum KIASMA, and artistic director at the Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo, she has curated a number of major Finnish, Scandinavian, and international exhibition projects in various countries. Her projects Artscape Nordland, ARS 95, and ARS 01 shifted the paradigm of art’s relation to society and nature attempting to claim common space for different spheres of knowledge. She graduated in English philology, art history, and literature from the University of Helsinki
