Martha Buskirk is Professor of art history and criticism at Montserrat College of Art, where she has taught since 1994, and she has held visiting appointments in the History, Theory and Criticism Program at MIT during 2005 and 2013. Her most recent book, Creative Enterprise: Contemporary Art between Museum and Marketplace (Continuum, 2012), investigates the institutional and economic interests that shape both the reception of art and its creation. She is also author of The Contingent Object of Contemporary Art (MIT Press, 2003) as well as numerous essays and articles that have appeared in Artforum, October, Art in America, and other venues.
