An international survey of approximately one hundred contemporary artists’ books from the last two decades, this book, conceived and designed as an artist book by Renée Green, includes “fanzines,” assemblies, exhibition catalogues, visual poetry, sketchbooks, and illustrated books, as well as collaborations between artists and the commercial world, such as fashion designer catalogues.

Edited by Cornelia Lauf and Clive Phillpot, the book includes an assortment of in-depth essays tracing the evolution of this artistic medium in the last decades of the 20th century. Green’s visual essay Perplexed is also included.
