On Translation: The Museum
ACT at MIT

This catalogue for the exhibition “On Translation: Museum” reinterprets projects by Muntadas pertaining to the series known generically as “On Translation” begun in 1995. The book documents the works and installations that make up the series, in which Muntadas addresses the concept of translation in contemporary society. “On Translation” employs a wide variety of supports and deals with specific notions related to the idea of translation, positing questions about such themes as the identity of the artistic practice, the idea of its social value, the possibilities of representation and curatorial interpretation, transcription and conservation of heritage.
