“In September 2024, we had the honor of organizing Come Closer: Percepts, the first solo exhibition in Brazil by the renowned artist, filmmaker, and writer Renée Green. After a sojourn at auroras, Green presented a thoughtful selection of works that engaged with the modernist architecture of the house, as well as with her ongoing relationship with Brazil and the Lusophone world–interests that have permeated her work since the beginning of her career. Internationally recognized for her pioneering practice, Green brought together installations, films, videos, sound works, Space Poems, and architectural arrangements, exploring the historical layers and cultural flows that shape identities, narratives, and structures of power, often linked to colonial legacies.

It is with great joy that we present this publication, which seeks to offer new paths for approaching and reflecting on her work, whose sensitive presence continues to resonate here.”

Lavishly illustrated, this bilingual exhibition catalogue documents Green’s exhibition at São Paulo’s art space auroras, sited in a modernist house in Morumbi. Published in Portuguese and English, the book includes the script of Green’s film Come Closer, as well as the transcript of two conversation: Renée Green in conversation with artist Pedro Zylbersztjan, and a public exchange about the exhibition and Green’s practice between Dia Art Foundation’s curator Jordan Carter with Brazilian curator Thiago de Paula Souza.

Contributions by Ricardo Kugelmas, Renée Green, Pedro Zylbersztjan, Jordan Carter, and Thiago de Paula Souza.
