Eye/Sight

Video installation, 1987. It is a two-monitor installation accompanied by an earphone audio track. the video component derives from two videotape loops and one live camera. For the installation a 8-inch diagonal color monitor is set into a 40-inch diagonal black and white projector monitor. The subject of the color tape loop is disintegrating vision based on poet Elizabeth Goldring's ongoing experience with and treatment for diabetic retinopathy. Goldring's narration of "Eye" poetry and prose constitutes the accompanying audio track (accessible by earphones only). Amplified environmental/ambient sounds accompany the video loop.
