The piece is a sonic bird feeder, poem, and at night, a sound score. It is composed of eight feeding trays, each wired with an electronic sensing device which is connected to a computer, synthesizer, and sound system. As the birds peck at the food, they activate the synthesizer. Using the computer, different notes, scale progressions, and harmonies are programmed throughout the day. The order of trillered notes and rhythmic patterns is left up to the "improvisations" of the birds. From dusk to midnight the computer plays back all the activity of the day in a condensed version, 1987.
