Inside Rhythms: Tone Zone, 1983

Photograph of CAVS Fellow Christopher Janney's "Inside Rhythms: Tone Zone," a dance/music performance which is choreographed in and around a "live" sound environment. This is achieved by connecting a live video camera to an electronic sensing device which is attached to a synthesizer. When a performer moves in front of the camer, he/she triggers sound. Rhythmic movements by the performers create rhythmic patterns form the programmable synthesizer... and this machine remembers. Photograph: unknown.
