Virginia Gunter was a fellow at the MIT Center for Advanced Visual Studies. Prior to her fellowship, she had several interactions with CAVS projects: she was the curator for the 1971 exhibition "Elements" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and she was a coordinator for the unfinished Sao Paulo Biennial exhibition of 1969 and its eventual exhibition, "Explorations," at the Smithsonian in 1970. She was hired to direct the 1975 Arttransition conference at CAVS.
