New Humans, an exhibition curated by ACT’s Research Affiliate Howie Chen, opens in New York City’s Bureau on November 17 and features work from ACT’s Professor Renée Green.
New Humans is a moniker for collaboration founded by Chen and artist Mika Tajima in 2003. New Humans, the exhibition, takes stock of their work and collaborations with artists, musicians and designers through the years. In the case of Renée Green, New Humans participated in her 2010 Endless Dreams and Time-Based Streams exhibition, performed in the Animation Activation Space—a public space conceived for performances and the Reading Performance Workshop—and participated in a series of performative readings of Green’s writings in combination with musicians.
Green’s work in the New Humans exhibition is represented by two prints from her 2011 Sigetics series—William Morris and Endless Dreams and Time-Based Streams Color Chart. This work continue the artist’s exploration of conceptual compression and knowledge transmission via color, writing, and technological refinement.
Work by recent ACT’s guest Charles Atlas is also included in the exhibition. Other New Humans’ collaborators present in Bureau’s New Humans are artist and Primary Information’s publisher James Hoff, José León Cerrillo, poet Kenneth Goldsmith, Mika Tajima, Olivier Mosset, and musician C. Spencer Yeh, among others.
