Jessica Sarah Rinland‘s (SMACT ’18) newest film – Those That, at a Distance, Resemble Another – premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland on August 12th, where it received a Special Mention. The film will go on to have its North American Premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Artist-filmmaker Jessica Sarah Rinland’s sumptuous, hypnotic new work tracks the production of a lab-engineered elephant tusk, in a reflection on conservation, fabrication, and authenticity.

Rinland, an Argentine-British filmmaker, has directed many short films, including Nulepsy (2010), Adeline For Leaves (2014), and Ý Berá – Bright Waters (2016). Those That, at a Distance, Resemble Another (2019) is her first feature-length film.
