Profile

Ryan Aasen (he/him) is an artist, researcher, and educator broadly interested in the politics of media technology. His image-based practice looks for patterns across a diverse set of ideas including trust, privacy, sexuality, religion, and class structure. Born and raised in rural Minnesota, he is currently based in New York City.

He was an artist-in-residence at Triangle, an MIT Transmedia Storytelling Initiative fellow, a Northern Lights.mn Art(ists) on the Verge fellow, and his work has been exhibited internationally. He has an MS in Art, Culture, and Technology from MIT (SMACT ’20), a BFA in Integrated Media from St. Cloud State University, and he has taught at MIT, Parsons, and Stevens Institute of Technology.
