Sophia Chefalo (she/they) explores themes of power, memory, and privacy related to unseen aspects of spacetime in photographic images. Their work aims to expand the definitions of photography by highlighting the limitations of the information contained within an image and the fragmentation of the ephemeral. This is achieved by recontextualizing imaging processes through the use of personal data and found materials, including the archives of strangers.
Her work has recently been exhibited at the Horniman Museum (London, UK) and galleries across London (UK), including Southwark Park Galleries, Espacio Gallery, Bargehouse Oxo Tower Warf, Camberwell Space Gallery, and Copeland Gallery. In 2024, Sophia graduated from the University of the Arts London with a Bachelor of Arts, earning First-Class Honors in Fine Art: Photography.
