The Encoded Monolith: A physical metaphor for the human mind

42 interlocking stainless steel drawers with the numbers from a radian protractor engraved on the face of each drawer. The numbers metaphorically refer to degrees of freedom of thought and creation as evidenced by the contents of each drawer. The sculpture contains hundreds of drawings, paintings, visual notations that explore the nature of mind and thought; the work also presents ideas and images on art-science-technology syntheses; created from 1980-1990.
