Omar Foglio and Jose Luis Figueroa are founders of Bulbo, a Tijuana- and Los Angeles-based media collective, exploring cultural, artistic and everyday themes often overlooked or under-represented in mass media. Their documentary, Tierra Brilliante (“the brightest glaze”) spotlights lead poisoning suffered by practitioners of traditional ceramics in Mexico. Tierra Brillante is a co-production between Galatea and the Mexican Institute of Cinema (IMCINE)
Omar Foglio has taught research methodology, communications theory, and courses on music and culture at the School of Humanities of Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and at Universidad Iberoamericana Plantel Noroeste. He directed and produced the short documentaries: A film 4 Peace, Luchas en Familia, Raitear, Metal Paguer, Healthy Mutation, Sana Rabia and The Godfather of Nortec.
Jose Luis Figueroa has served as a trial lawyer and prosecutor and also taught a at the School of Arts at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. In 2009 he co-directed the feature length documentaryTijuaneados Anónimos: Una lágrima, una sonrisa, a co-production between Galatea audio/visual and the Mexican Institute of Cinema (IMCINE). The film was Official Selection of the 2009 Morelia International Film Festival, Ambulante Gira de Documentales 2010 and Distrital 2010.
Take the MBTA red line to the Kendall/MIT stop. Follow Main Street west to Ames Street, turn left, and walk one block. Ames Street has limited on-street parking. Visitors may park in MIT campus lots after 5PM. (The Hayward Lot is on Hayward Street, off of Amherst Street.)
