Profile

Matt Ledwidge is an artist and researcher from Toronto, Canada and a first year Master’s Candidate at the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology.

His work is built around particular geographic and historical sites and uses structural intervention, installation, image, and sound to engage with the conditions of knowledge and attention in the built environment and scientific conventions of visual representation. Past projects have focused on the transmission of historical information at the site of a particular work, investigating conditions of obfuscation, the production of after-images, and the psychosomatic implications of particular disclosures.

Recent exhibitions and collaborative projects include Prelude at the Shed, New York; The Society for the Common and Good at the GGG Foundation, Basel; On Seeking Incuriously at the Festung Hohensalzburg, Salzburg; Like a Perhaps Hand at the Cooper Union, New York; and Bird Fish in Between at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cooper Union in New York City.
