Luca E. Lum

Profile

Luca E. Lum (she/they) is an artist and writer attuned to arrhythmias of time, memory, body, and affect. Working across forms, her ongoing interests include misrecognition, extended and distributed agencies, fraught mediations, and dispositions of feeling and affinity that organise life and meaning. She considers the technological, semiotic and informational as material, relation, and predicament. She traverses fiction, poetry and analysis in her texts.

Luca was also co-founder of soft/WALL/studs (2016-2021), a collaboratively held space and series of actions that experimented with renewed situations of discursivity, agency, autonomy, and communality.

She was artist-in-residence at the Delfina Foundation (UK), the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art (SG), A. Farm Saigon (VT), and the Cemeti Institute for Art and Society (ID). She is an alumni of Triple Canopy’s (US) Publication Intensive.

Recent work has been presented at Liquid Architecture, (Melbourne, AUS); Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum, (IS); the NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts (Singapore); and the Cemeti Institute for Art and Society (Jogjakarta, ID). Her writing has been featured in Making Kin (animal series), by Cthulhu Books, the publishing platform of the Institute for Postnatural Studies (Madrid, ES); the Asian Film Archive’s Monographs 2023 (forthcoming, Singapore); NANG magazine; and Voice & Verse Magazine (Cha edition).
