Kevin McLellan’s new short film, Dick, is having its virtual premiere on Friday, February 19, as part of the TAG! Queer Shorts Festival, virtually presented by Portland, Oregon’s Hollywood Theatre.
Dick is a homoerotic fiction that mashes-up public domain sources and attempts to survey representations of gayness from different lenses and different times.
McLellan’s film is part of Shorts Block 2: Impulse. We all have basic needs and desires as queer and trans people—to be held, to be seen, to be accepted as we are. These shorts bring you the sounds and images associated with longing and the need for belonging, efforts that don’t always go as smoothly as planned—and sometimes even better.
Kevin McLellan, ACT’s Financial Assistant, is the author of the full-length poetry collections, Ornitheology (The Word Works) which received honors at the 19th Annual Massachusetts Book Awards and Tributary (Barrow Street). He also authored the book objects, Hemispheres (Fact-Simile Editions) and [box] (Letter [r] Press), and the chapbook Round Trip (Seven Kitchens Press). Kevin won the 2015 Third Coast Poetry Prize and Gival Press’ 2016 Oscar Wilde Award, and his writing appears in numerous literary journals including Colorado Review, Crazyhorse, Kenyon Review, Sixth Finch, West Branch, Western Humanities Review, and others. Kevin is also Duck Hunting with the Grammarian Productions.
The 2021 edition of the Tag! Queer Shorts Festival arrives February 18-28 as a new Hollywood Theatre-sponsored program. This year’s festival features over 40 short films that acknowledge the range of emotions and experiences that mark the past year, feelings from isolation to joy that find special resonance within queer and trans communities. Tag! Queer Shorts Festival is especially committed to bringing QTBIPOC stories to the screen from around the world and is one of the few festivals that mixes the work of established creative teams with new creators and exclusively screens work by queer and trans-identifying filmmakers.
The festival will stream from 2/18 at 6:00pm to 2/28 at 11:59pm
A new shorts block will be available each day at 6:00pm from 2/18-2/21.
You will have 72 hours to watch a shorts block once you hit play. Be sure to allow enough time to finish watching before the stream ends for good on 2/28 at 11:59pm.
